"The Music House" is Joseph Nazari's artistic interpretation of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, one of Los Angeles' most recognizable architectural landmarks and a celebrated work by architect Frank Gehry. Through overlapping planes of white, silver, and black, Joseph reconstructs the building's sweeping metallic forms, translating Gehry's monumental architecture into a complex sculptural composition that changes as the viewer moves around it.
Embedded throughout the work are references to the world of music that the building represents. Instruments, musical symbols, performers, and a prominent silhouette of legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti appear among the architectural fragments, revealing Joseph's deep personal connection to classical music and opera. There is also a natural kinship between artist and architect: Joseph's own background in invention, engineering, and technical design finds an intriguing parallel in Gehry's ability to transform extraordinarily complex construction into expressive visual art. In "The Music House," these worlds converge—architecture becomes sculpture, engineering becomes art, and music becomes something we can see.
